Welcome to Cape Town! Wow! This has been a seriously busy stage in my life and my road to London. Even though things have seemed somewhat out of control I have still been able to train extremely hard and have seen some awesome and exciting improvements in my results over the 1st 2 months of this year.
I don’t think I would ever be able to fill you in on everything that has happened since my last post so I have decided to give you an update of my Monday training schedule:
6 am – Wake up to the Blackberry Standard alarm tone. (I only keep this irritating tone because it reminds me of racing with Shaun. During race weeks I hear this tone going off continuously with reminders)
7 am – Off to SSISA on my new favorite means of transport, the push scooter
7:15 am – Weekly Anthrops check up, basically just the best way for coach to check how good my weekend was with a fat scale…
7:30 am – 15 min running heart rate recovery test
8 am – Catch the train to Marina da Gama, the 20 minute trip has been set aside for discussing the weeks training plans and objectives but is usually spent giving Marcus a hard time.
8:30 am – Business time, for the rest of the month Shaun and I have two classy training partners from Germany, Ronnie being an Olympic champion, 13 time world champion as well as a medalist at the past 3 Olympic Games.
11am – Back to SSISA
11:30am – Throw some weights around, role on Physio balls, jump on boxes and punch bags, I know it sounds terrible but someone has to do it.
1pm – Go home for lunch and a recovery lie down
3pm – Back to the water, it’s time to race Olympic champions again!
6pm – Home for supper, a shower and bed.
It’s really not as bad as it seems, in total we probably only spend 5 hrs training the rest is just spent talking about it J but Tuesday is much easier its only like 4.5hrs.
