What a World Cup, K2 500m 7th place, K2 200m 10th place. Not quite the results I was hoping for! But taking a quote from one of my favourite movies;” Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again.”
After my 200m semi final I was really disappointed, we ended fourth and missed out on our final by 0.07 seconds. What was really disappointing was the fact that we raced the 190m really well but had never really allowed ourselves a chance because of our poor start. In hind sight we have learnt a huge amount more from not qualifying for that final than if we had and I am in a strange way grateful it happened now and can move forward and focus on the world champs knowing it is going to run smoothly.
On the whole our regatta went really well. We finished 7th in a really tough 500m final and are really happy with our fitness, speed and endurance. I the 200m we lined up 3 times and crossed the line 1st twice and 4th once. Above are our last two photo finishes the disappointing semi and our B-final victory.
I am really positive going into world champs at the end of the year, racing looks as though its going to be really tough but we are right up there. I look forward to improving over this next 10 week cycle.
