Yesterday we finished a two day testing Camp which CSA held down here in Cape Town. Matt and Nick's flight back to Durban was delayed by a couple of hours so we decided to take the opportunity for a surf. We were greeted by an awesome little wave. While I was still getting into my suit and waxing my board, feeling rather jealous of Nick already paddling into a wave, the shark alarm went off.
Matt, Tom Schilperoort and I watched Stubbs burn it into shore between sets and then watched as the fin of the shark cruised up and down the backline!
Below is a photo of a relieved Stubbs with the Shark warning flag. We later learned from the shark spotter that the man eating great white had been between Stubbs and beach at a stage.
