Walking a mile in someone else's shoes...

Or "Paddling 200m in someone else's seat!" Shaun asked me yesterday if I thought he'd make a good anchor, this got me thinking about how much each of us has specialised in our roles. When I first climbed into a K2 10 years ago I jumped in the back because I was the bigger guy, the same applies to Ruby who has never sat in the back. Shaun and I have been in the same boat for a while now and if I think about it I have no idea what he needs to do upfront to make the boat go fast. Even tho we are in the same boat and competing in the same race our thoughts and focuses are on completely different areas. Ruby definitely has what is required of a good anchor but I think it takes a fair amount of experience and practice to put it all together and the same goes for the stroke. In future I'll be paying a lot more attention to what he does as a stroke, I'm sure it will help our boat a lot. In answering his question I pointed out that Anchorman Mike sounds way better than Anchorman Shaun. I did a bit of photoshop for the pic above...
